A fine moment

Right now is one of those evenings, one of those pictures I'll have in my memory for a long time about what it was like to be a mother to a silly little baby girl. Kip is helping his parents, so Kyra and I had the afternoon to ourselves. We had fun and laughed all day and then I put her down for her evening nap. The sun was setting through the window in her room. As I rocked her to sleep in my arms, before she went to sleep, she looked up at me smiling the laziest, happiest smile. The sunlight brought out the intricate colors and details in her eyes as she slowly opened and closed them. She would go 'heh heh heh' very sleepily as I sang a lullaby to her (because apparently my singing is bad to the point of laughable ). The light coming through the window filtered through her hair and eyelashes and made them shine like gold. And now, as I look over at her asleep in her crib (the computer's in her room), I just wish I had my camera so you could see the gentle light filling her crib as she sleeps. It's just too precious, and I am so incredibly blessed to have her!!!

Monday Update 6/13/05

I don't know where she got it from, but yesterday Kyra pooped a small square tag that said 'made in America'! Yep, that poop is 100% a product of our country, just in case anyone was wondering. I could probably sell the diaper on e-bay, lol!

In other news, she's waving 'hi' a lot more regularly. She has also learned how to breach the impromptu baby barrier we made. It's just stiff material stretched across the large opening between the living room and the dining room. She learned that if she slides with her head on the floor and her butt in the air, she can slip under it. It's the funniest thing to see her pop out on the other side. Her head is facing down until she gets her whole head through, and then she turns and looks up - just like when she was born!!

That's the closest to a smile Kyra gives during posed pictures. She gets that from her dad.

Speaking French

Kyra sounds a lot like she's speaking french these days. In fact, when she says cat, she says 'chat'! I think she swears at me in french, too. When she's mad she says her consonant sounds very loud and very harsh, with lots of spit. 'DA DA BA MA DA DA!' She seems to understand a lot more of what we're saying too. When I ask her to look at the birdies, she arches her head back and stares at the ceiling trying to find the birds that are projected there from her crib toy.

Still no teeth here. But I love her toothless grin so it's fine by me.

Oh yeah, she waves back when we wave at her now! She must have learned it from Teletubbies.

Happy Father's Day!
Hi, Mom!
Dad has a crinkly face when under attack.
Dad's a tall guy.
Wheee!
Kyra crinkles her nose just like dad.
